• I've been somewhat active in the BioPAX (Biological Pathways Exchange) working group.
• I used to work at Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
• I maintain the Cambridge Entomological Club and Psyche web sites.
• Models of biological organization. A follow-on project, of sorts, to Scheme 48 (see below), which is also a study of the structure of robust systems and their drive towards complexity. With Walter Fontana and Leo Buss.
• Landmark guidance in social wasps; postdoc with Tom Collett at University of Sussex Centre for Neuroscience. See abstract of report (Journal of Comparative Physiology A 181(1):47--58, 1997).
• I visited Archbold Biological Station, Florida, with Dick Root, Peter Marks, and the rest of Cornell's Field Ecology class, 1992. I visited again in April 2002 to collect insects.
• I visited Iquitos, Peru in search of katydids, on an Earthwatch expedition led by David Nickle, 1991.
• While in graduate school at MIT, I minored in biology by taking classes at Harvard's Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Among other classes, I took entomology from Jim Carpenter.
